1/2" TEST:

This rock mix Steven did of the song "GO IT ALONE" for George Lynch's 'KILL ALL CONTROL' was mixed all in the box. Steven used this song as one of the music test files when testing the 1/2" machine.

First, here is the original mix, 96khz 24bit:

96khz 24bit mix:
GO IT ALONE ORIGINAL - Right Click and "Save As"

Now here is the mix recorded onto Howie Weinberg's 1/2" deck, 30IPS, 456 tape, hitting 0VU at peaks
GOI IT ALONE REAL TAPE - Right Click and "Save As"

Now here is the mix using the VTM plugin on the same settings:
GO IT ALONE VTM - Right Click and "Save As"

You'll notice first that the VTM matches the real tape exactly. Compared to the original mix, both the tape and VTM add more punch, life, depth, and dynamic thickness through the frequency range.

SNARE TEST 2"

This snare drum was one of Steven's test files for the 2" machine. The 2inch was set to 30ips with 456 tape.

Here is the original Snare drum file, 24bit, 44.1khz:
SNARE ORIGINAL - Right Click and "Save As"

Here is the snare hitting the real 2inch at -3 on the VU:
SNARE REAL 2inch - Right Click and "Save As"

And now the same settings on the VTM:
SNARE VTM - Right Click and "Save As"

And now pushed to 0VU on the real 2inch
SNARE REAL PUSHED - Right Click and "Save As"

And pushed to 0VU on the VTM
SNARE VTM PUSHED - Right Click and "Save As"

You can clearly hear the saturation, especially high end saturation, that occurs with both the tape and VTM. In both cases, the VTM matches the tape machine precisely.

Here is a comparison of a song 'REALITY' by artist Brittney Bouchard mixed ITB by Steven at 24bit 44.1khz. We'll compare the song with and without VTM plugins:

The original ITB Mix:
REALITY ORIGINAL - Right Click and "Save As"

And now with VTM 2inch on various channels and the VTM 1/2" as the final insert on the master using 456 15IPS:
REALITY VTM - Right Click and "Save As"

This is a really good example of how the VTM smoothes out the exaggerated highs and thickens the mids and low end. The mix with the VTM plugs sounds bigger, with more depth, vibe, and life.

Thanks to George Lynch and Brittney Bouchard
